In addition to further increase US military presence in Australia, Prime Minister Abbott also discussed with US President Obama the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal. The TPP is the economic thrust of US foreign policy. Multinational Corporations require their political minders in the Whitehouse and on Capital Hill to implement strategies that will open up markets around the world for their exploitation.

This necessitates both economic and military planning to extend the US global reach, increase the number of client states under their control, encircle and isolate their adversaries such as China and Russia. The US strategy of the ‘Asia Pivot’ is the military flip-side to the TPP coin.

The TPP negotiations over the last 4 years have been carried out in secret. Australia, United States, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, Japan and Vietnam are involved in the negotiations. 

The agenda is being driven by the US on behalf of its global corporations, who want changes to our laws which would suit corporations
but reduce peoples’ rights.
